A homage to what is probably the most fascinating and unpredictable raw material in natural perfumery: agarwood – eaglewood – oud.

With a fragrance oil content of 33 %, this extraordinary creation contains a special feature that is rarely encountered anywhere in the world:

67 % of the entire fragrance oil content consists of three different Thai oud qualities.

Three royal agarwood essences from Thailand, each with its own personality, its own character and its own story.

United in a composition in which oud is not merely one facet.

Here, oud is the centre.

The origin.

The soul.

The idea behind this creation arose from a wish of AttarG:

To create a fragrance in which agarwood is not just one component among many.

Many oud compositions use agarwood as a single facet within a larger scent picture. The woody, leathery and mystical qualities of the oud are merged with other ingredients and partly integrated into the background.

SIAM AQUILARIA IMPERIALE takes a different path.

Here, the entire DNA of the oud was to be preserved.

In the top.

In the heart.

In the base.

The other raw materials were not used as equal leading actors, but as precisely tuned companions that highlight the natural beauty of the three oud divas and give them room to unfold.

Yet therein lies the greatest challenge.

Because oud is no ordinary raw material.

Oud is a diva.

Why is agarwood called a diva in the world of perfumery?

Because hardly any other natural raw material possesses such independence.

A perfumer can create a composition and be convinced that a certain balance has been achieved.

But oud keeps working.

It moves.

It changes.

It influences its surroundings and is at the same time influenced by the other raw materials.

A blend can seem perfect on the first day. A few days later, the oud may suddenly be pushed into the background by floral components.

And later still, the balance can change completely and the agarwood emerges with an unexpected intensity.

It is precisely this living dynamic that makes natural oud creations so demanding.

They need time.

They need patience.

And they need respect for the raw material.

Because oud is not simply a fragrance material.

The three oud qualities used come from Thailand and form the heart of this extraordinary creation.

Oud Mai Sweet Thai from the Trat region opens with a floral, slightly fruity elegance.

Oud Thai Highlands brings the spicy-leathery depth of the Thai north.

Oud Prince Prachin completes the composition with a darker, earthy and almost jungle-like aura.

Three different personalities.

Three different stories.

One shared soul.

Together they create a new oud character that surprises even experienced oud connoisseurs.

In addition to the three royal oud essences, further extraordinary raw materials were used.

The Deer Musk from the Himalayas used here is among the highest qualities of this extraordinary raw-material category. AttarG was able to bring this treasure back personally from a fragrance discovery journey to Pakistan.

Processed into a tincture, this rare raw material unfolds its special depth and combines with the creamy, elegant character of the Mysore sandalwood from India.

Equally extraordinary are the floral essences used, such as Jasmine Sambac, Tuberose, Frangipani and Gardenia, as well as the Labdanum Absolute 2002, matured over many years.

These raw materials have been in the house of Duftkumpels for more than a decade and a half.

No one today can say exactly when these qualities came into being.

But therein lies their magic.

With every year, these reserves become more precious.

And while on our journeys we are already searching for worthy successors, we keep finding:

Some qualities simply cannot be replaced.

Perhaps in 20 years we will speak of today's raw materials in the same way.

Because true preciousness arises from transience.

The sandalwood absolute from New Caledonia used here deserves a special mention.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Here, sandalwood was not distilled in the classic way but processed by a special extraction in order to obtain a completely different facet of this precious wood.

The result is extraordinary.

An olfactory union of a creamy caramel paste, the warm character of walnut and a clearly recognisable sandalwood DNA.

Together with the in-house Vanilla / Tobacco Tincture (DK), a signature emerges that has already given other Duftkumpels creations such as Habana Cocoa, Leather 4 Love and BärLEEN their unmistakable character.

A creamy, dark, warm depth.

Like liquid elegance.

As soon as SIAM AQUILARIA IMPERIALE leaves the flacon, its extraordinary presence is immediately apparent.

The three oud divas, which AttarG combined with great precision, unfold like a majestic interplay.

The floral, slightly fruity Oud Mai Sweet Thai.

The spicy-leathery Oud Thai Highlands.

The dark, earthy Oud Prince Prachin.

A wave of agarwood which, however, after the first minutes transforms its raw power into something completely different.

From the initial intensity emerges a golden oud sunshine.

Through the animalic raw materials used – ambergris from the Bahamas and Deer Musk from the Himalayas – the floral and woody components gain an extraordinary depth.

Not because we wanted to limit them artificially.

But because some treasures of nature are only available for a certain moment.

Whether and when a further interpretation will be possible depends – as with all Duftkumpels creations – on whether the Almighty blesses us once again with the availability of extraordinary raw materials and our future raw-material journeys allow the right discoveries.
